As discussed, we have had a lot of negaitivity in our lives lately, from the simple things that annoy us that we have shared that may not be worth getting upset over but annoy us nonetheless to the bigger things that deeply hurt us.

It is time to put some happiness back into our lives, and if we can't do it for ourselves, why not at least make someone else happier, it will make us feel better inside, and as with the vbplaza gifts - they may be paid forward and eventually come around full circle to make our lives better too

This was emailed to us at work today, and I thought I would share

http://www.gooddeedaday.com/

Random Acts: Sometimes it's the kindness of strangers that surprise us the most

Humans: We are surrounded by violence, terrorism and racism, report on man's humanity to man instead.

Animals: We share the world with many beautiful creatures. What are we doing to protect them?

Environment: Who's cleaning up the mistakes we've made?

Heroes: Even the smallest acts can be heroic, if we put the needs of others first.

We should all make the effort to do a good deed a day, and share yours, whether it be on here, the website linked to above (and preferably both!)

My good deed is going to be doing my sisters hair and makeup for the concert she is treating me to tonight (I will also color/cut her hair.... for free, but we wont have time for that tonight). Ill probably treat her to dinner too. My sis never wears makeup or does her hair, so she always gets excitied when Im able to do what I do on her. So my good deed is to make my sister feel pretty today (she never feels pretty, eventhough she is gorgeous with one flaw people cant see past). My mind is boggling with ideas of what Im going to do to her hair/makeup tonight.

Sorry I couldnt think of a better one, my day consists of sitting at my desk for 8 hours

All I've done so far is get up and go to work, so I will check back in later in the day.

Great idea for a thread!

I am giving away a table and 4 chairs set that doesn't fit into my new kitchen to a woman who has hardly any furniture as she is "starting over." She's coming by in the morning tomorrow to help me bring the set to her new apartment.

She's tickled PINK to be getting a good, sturdy, albeit 20 year old set for free, and I'm tickled that she's so tickled!

I definitely recommend signing up for the FreeCycle Group in your area, through Yahoo, if you haven't done so already. It's a GREAT way to recycle household items that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Through Freecycle, things only go to those who WANT them, so you know they'll have a good home.

Or you can find things that you NEED - for free!

It isn't exactly a "good deed" but it's definitely a feel good thing for me!

I love Freecycling - I got rid of my way to small desk last year to a student whose parents had died but their last tax return showed them making too much money for him to get financial help for school - he was working 2 jobs to put himself through school.

I tried to sign up for Freecycle once, but they sent me sooo many emails I got annoyed and canceled it. Maybe I set it up wrong, but I couldn't figure it out. I've listed a few things for free on Craigslist instead.

There's no place like home
I let my DH sleep in close to 2 hours longer this morning. We had friends fly in last night and we got to bed at 4AM. So rather than nudging him out of the bed at 6AM to send him off to work, I let him sleep until 7:45. I did all of his morning chours for him. He was out the door by 7:55 and only about an hour late to work.

I'm on vacation today and the rest of the day will be spent pampering my guests. They love our babies and in fact adopted the brothers of my Muddy and Koko. I always have to check their luggage for cats on the way out the door.

Nothing today, but yesterday when I was in the dentist's office with my SO, an elderly lady with a cane was standing up because it was so crowded and the rude teens that were in there did'nt offer her a seat. I gave her mine and sat on the floor. Does that count?

Where whiskers abound.
Good thread, very POSITIVE. Positive thoughts travel! I offer to help get a jar or some other item on a high shelf in the grocery store for disabled people in wheelchairs. Lots of times they say 'no thankyou', but I can tell they love it when I ask.

Lovely thread

A rescued a baby bird from the middle of a busy street this morning. It was just sitting there
smack dab in the middle.I was almost scared to stop at first, fear of getting hit- but strangely there were no cars in sight. I pulled over kind, hopped out and ran back to him/her. At first I thought it may have been hit, but after trying to grab him for the third time he finally remembered what his little wings were for, and flew away.

I did a good deed today

There was an elderly lady in front of my at the grocery store and she had a fair amount of groceries. The cashier asked her for her "Club Card" so she could get discounts on her purchase. She didn't have one, and she didn't want to take the time to fill out the form because she was in a hurry.

I asked if they could use my card (it gives a discount but no other benefits). The cashier said they would do that for her. So she ended up saving over $20.00 on her bill
She was so thrilled!

I haven't been out of the house yet today, but yesterday, I returned some books to the library. The lady who took them found a bookmark I'd left in one and started to hand it back to me. It was an origami corner-flap bookmark I'd made out of a patterned foil paper, and she stopped and looked at it and exclaimed on what a neat design it was, so I gave it to her. Not much, but it made her happy!

Here's a good deed that is done for us every now and then, most recently a week ago: because of my father, we have a Purple Heart license plate on our car, and we often find that someone has left a note on our windshield thanking my father for his service to the country. We've saved them all over the years, and they really mean a lot to Papa!
