Hello, I have noticed lately that when Cozmo lays on his back for a while or if I scratch him under the chin and he sticks his head out because he likes to be scratched there he sometimes will get a real bad wet deep cough from it, He swings his head from side to side on each cough. Sometimes its only a couple coughs and sometimes he coughs to the point I get worried that he can't breath or something.
He breaths fine otherwise, no wheezing or noisy breathing.

Has anyone else seen this happen? How worried should I be?

I would have him checked by the vet to be sure and put your mind at ease. I have never heard of it but go by the idea of, if it is enough to worry me that I would post it, its enough for a check up or at least call to the vet - they know best

It could be an asthma attack that's being triggered by the excitation of the scratching or the body position or posture.

I don't want to worry you, but what you're describing sounds a lot like how Geronimo & Winchester acted before they were diagnosed w/ the FIP virus - which can be deadly if not treated. Both Geronimo & Winchester are now on Interferon, which is a drug that helps to boost their immune system, which is weak, and is why they had recurring coughing/wheezing attacks. I would take your kitty to the vet, to have him tested.
It could also be asthma. The only way to know for sure is to take your kitty to the vet....

BTW, I just wanted to say "howdy" from a fellow Wisconsinite!
I used to live in Waukau, a little-bitty town about 10 or so miles from Berlin! (I grew up in Oshkosh, but lived in Waukau for about 22 years). I moved to Texas a little over 5 years ago. I remember Berlin well: it's a right-nice little town!

Please take your kitty to the vet ASAP! It could be nothing serious, but it's better to be safe than sorry. FIP can be fatal if not treated, if that's what it is..

Hi, We were gone most of this last weekend, We got home last night and I notice that when Cozmo sits he holds up his right front paw and licks the top of his foot. He don't seem to limp or anything but I can tell his foot hurts him.

We tried to look at the bottom of his paw but it hurts him when I try to look down in between his pads on his foot, It looks funny in there like he maybe cut it on something or he has something stuck up in there. I have to take him in at 9:40 this morning to get his paw looked at so I will ask about the coughing problem also while he is there.

Hi again, The vet didn't find anything wrong with his breathing, but he has two puncher wounds in his foot that are getting infected, The wounds are way up inside the bottom of his foot. I have no clue how he got them.
He is on a antibiotic for a while.

Poor kitty! I hope he gets to feeling better soon.
I'm wondering if the coughing is happening because when you scritch him, it's making a tickle in his throat. I've not had kitties react by coughing, but I have one who will sneeze.

I wonder if Angel bit him in the foot, they get into some pretty intense arguments some times, but we didn't see anything on the top of his paw, he has white feet so any blood would have shown up if Angel had bit him that hard.

Do you have an unfinished attic or any other place with exposed boards? I'm thinking maybe he stepped on a nail or something?
