Does anyone have to put up with a ton of road constuction where they live. It seems like it's everywhere here. I don't understand why a perfectly good road has to be under construction. It gets annoying because it causes traffic problems. Uggg, I wish they'd leave the roads alone for once.

They have been working on the highway here for a long time now. It is very annoying because even at like 11pm we have gotten stuck in traffic. A lot of roads here are under construction and it drives me nuts.

I know it's irritating but there are alot of roads that if not fixed can cause accidents from the potholes, layers of tarmac shifting etcetc

counting down until graduation!!
I know in my area they were closing down one of the INTERSTATES every 30 minutes, or something like that. I think they maybe opened it every 30 minutes to let people through, then closed it again... dunno. I stayed off of the interstate.

In Wisconsin we have two season: Winter and road construction!!
About 3 yrs ago the county worked all summer and fall on the road that intersect mine. It was so dusty-I keep on calling and complaining about the truck the dump trucks were causing-I felt really sorry for the people that actually lived on that road all summer-no open windows for them.

I really HATE this too!!! they have oiled and stoned ALL the roads near me. People like me who take VERY good care of there car's paint and wheels, get PISSED, cause now we have rock chips and tar all over, and it continues till the road is worked in

Minnesota's seasons:

Snow, More Snow, (a few weeks of nothing) and the rest is Road Construction

DH just reminded you all - the alternative to our roads is roads like in the 3rd world countries!

Lots around here too. And it we also have a rather large number of one way streets, actually most of the streets in our downtown area are one way only, and when there is construction taking place it makes it so much worse.

I don't drive and I use a door to door public transportation service beause of my health. However, if I forget to book my transportation 2 days in advance I have to take a taxi cab and that is usually $20.00 round trip without the construction. Construction can easily add $10.00 to that
I try not to forget to book transportation because there is no way I can afford to pay that kind of money out for one outting, on a fixed income.

Same here - we either complain about the construction or complain about the state of the roads and why our tax $$ are not going into fixing them

I don't mind the construction its the idiots who insist on going 40 instead of the posted 65 cause there is a maching in the next lane. Or slam on brakes because there is a worker in the median working 2 lanes over.

It's sort of a necessary evil once the weather gets nice. Right now our area also has major work being done on one of the two bridges that cross the Ohio. Haven't had to go to that part of Kentucky so far...

That reminds me - one year the interstate had construction and only one lane open for several miles. A local reporter stopped by and talked to the workers and remarked about those plastic orange barrels. The worker was grousing about how some yahoos will purposely knock them down as they drive by. The reporter suggested that at the start of the contruction zone they put up a sign - ONE OF THESE BARRELS IS FILLED WITH CEMENT. YOU GUESS WHICH ONE.
