Hello,
I am new to the site but needed desperate advice. I have an indoor cat that is about 2 years old. She was a stray that I found when she was about 4 weeks old. My fiance has a 10 year old dog. My cat loves his dog; she attacks him everyday (playfully-they have a little game).

Back in February, my fiance and I broke up and I took my cat and lived elsewhere. She never really got used to the apartment where I lived and she just wasn't the same. I only lived there a couple of months before my fiance and I reconciled and I moved back in with him. The cat adjusted back to herself in a matter of minutes. My fiance said his dog was very sad and withdrawn for the few months that I was gone.

Recently, I have come to the conclusion that this is not a healthy relationship for me...I am just not happy. I am making plans to end this very soon. I am extremely worried about my cat. I will be moving in with a friend that has two male cats and I'm afraid she is going to fall into the same behavior as before (depressed, scared, not getting used to new environment). Any advice?

I think your cat will be able to get over losing her dog friend. Check out the "Cat Behavior" section of the site -- link at the top of the page in the yellow box -- and look for an excellent article on introducing cats. If you do this properly, your cat will have two new cat friends and won't be lonely this time.
