Hey all.. We finally made our girls out weekend plans..

Me, my sister, and my mom are going to Chicago from 10-19 to 10-21. We are gonna see a broadway show,, probably Friday Night, cheaper tickets.

Any good restaurants, that you just love or have to say something about in Chicago???? (Maybe don't miss place to eat)

Thanks for the input
Heather

Oh, have fun! I LOVED Wicked when we went to see it. A few good restaurants near the Oriental Theatre:

Atwood Cafe
Petterino's
Trattoria No. 10 (This is where my husband and I went before we went to Wicked - great Italian food!)
Osteria Via Stato
312 Chicago

Where will you be staying? What else are you planning to do?

What kind of cuisine are those places?? Are they expensive,, any of them fun, or just laid back??

I don't know what else we are going to do.. I've never been,, I'm sure go to a few stores, or something,,, We are staying at the Marriott..

Ive stayed at The Park Hyatt once (oh it rocks, the room is like $500 a night though). It really doesnt matter where you stay because there is so much to see/do. FYI The Chessecake Factory is a little pricey but laid back (if you go try the georgia peach drink... yum). Make sure to hit the stores on Michigan Avenue.

Yes, they are all pricey, nice places. Sadly, generally downtown + nice = expensive!! If Cheesecake Factory is pricey, then these are VERY pricey. Wasn't sure what you meant when you said you wanted to go somewhere nice to eat.

Cuisine - Atwood is American, and the others are mostly Italian (our favorite cuisine).

For more casual places - you could try Pizzaria Uno or Duo (the originals) or Grand Lux Cafe. They're north of the theatre, but they won't be so expensive. We also really like Rock Bottom Brewery, a laid back place with great beer.

Definitely go shopping/walking along Michigan Ave! The stores are all amazing, and it can be fun to just people-watch as well.

Maybe snowmeow9 has some links of her restaurants

The Cheescake Factory is affordable (I wasnt aware of the budget, so I stated a little pricey)... Many nice restaurants in Chicago will be... It is worth it though. You are going to have a blast!

There's no place like home
Chicago has a lot of great restaurants and I have to suggest that you avoid the chains (sorry Trixie). Of all the cuisines, I think their Italian is the best in the country (outside of the northeast coast) and their steaks are out of this world (midwest corn fed beef). If you are looking for really casual lunch type fair, find a good hot dog place - Gold Coast Dogs is wonderful and if you don't like dogs, try their Italian Beef (another famous Chicago creation). If you head up to the Lincoln Park Zoo, Gold Coast Dogs is close by.

If you have any spare time, the museums are also wonderful. The Art Museum, Shed Aquarium, Field Museum, and Planetarium are all downtown. Don't be afraid to catch a cab.
