Yes, thats right.....I *already* quit my job! But who could blame me?? That is really a depressing job.
I didnt like the way the residents were treated and how they made them just sit all day in a "room", and are not allowed to watch tv or sleep. I am sorry, how are they ever going to get better if they arent allowed to do anything??

Talk about depressing~~~

I am currently on the job hunt again.

I hear you. When I was 16 -17 I worked in a nursing home. It was very depressing. Half of the residents never had visitors, and many were suffering from severe dimensha. However I did appreciate spending time with the residents (those without family, or those who's families where "too busy" to make a visit). In the end it was worth knowing I made someones day. I will admit it was very hard, and sad at times. You really do become close with the residents and when one passes, it is devistating.

Hopefully you can find another job that suites you. I completely understand where you are coming from. Some people can handle it, and for others it is too much. I appreciate you being a realist, and fessing up that it isnt for you. Its amazing to see what really goes on... Once you are on the inside. I've seen how poorly residents can be treated, first hand... Hence I refuse to ever be put in a nursing home.

You'll find something, soon... Sending you some job vibes

Her job was in a mental ward, not a nursing home!!!! Nursing home jobs are not peaches and cream (hard work) but the old people are sweet and really need someone to be there for them. I was a dietary aid, so my job was not pretty (I went home smelly, wet, and doused in puree food everyday)... It was worth it, and good money tbh.

Sorry hun, it didn't work out.

But you know you'll find the job that works for you... Lots of vibes and good luck on finding that just right job..

Since it's a mental ward.. Have you looked at other facilities,, maybe you can help with some Psychiatric Nursing for teens or something?

That is true, but it was just awful. I didnt like that they were being treated like prisoners.
Ya know, they all have something wrong with them, thats why they are there. And to just not allow them to do anything-no, just not right IMO. Also another thing that REALLY disturbed me was that one of the older ladies that was there, started spitting up black stuff from her mouth(which any *normal* person knows isnt right).....well we told the nurse, and she just shrugged it off-as if its nothing.

Trust me, if you're not happy on the job, then it makes it 10x worse and all you can think about is finding a new job. Never settle, I've learned that now.

Good luck on your new job quest catloverin_ks!!!
