Norwegian Forest Cat Feeding

Hi there, I am new to this forum.

I have two 15mth old Wegies. The boy weighs 5.5kg and the girl weighs 5kg. They have both lost some weight recently, so we have increased their available food intake. They are given 400gms wet food a day between them and as much dry food as they like. (James Wellbeloved)

I am not sure how much you would normally expect a wegie to eat at this stage. I know that they continue growing for 3 to 4 years.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks Jersey Girl

I really have no idea as I've never dealt with the breed. I did look them up and all I can say is....They are gorgeous! I hope someone comes along and helps you.

Edit to add:

I found this:
"Norwegian Forest Cats are a large breed and will require approximately 80 Kcals per kg of bodyweight per day of food. However their diet should be watched as they should not become obese"

at this site:

Hope it helps.

You can make a rough guestimate on whether a cat is under/overweight by body shape using this chart:

These cats are still growing, I think it's OK for them to eat as much as they want. Maybe you need to increase the amount of wet you're putting down for them.

Thank you for those links. Very helpful. Don't think I need to be too worried.
