I was just sitting here at the computer and talking to my mom who is on the couch and next thing I know Shadow my 4 year old cat stood up on the side of the computer chair and bit my arm. She has never done anything like this before...I looked at her and asked her what her problem was and she just meowed and walked away.
She is so moody for some reason.

Well Shadow isn't known to ever bite so it was just weird, it shocked me lol. I did have a cat that bit me all the time...if you didn't pet her right or if you didn't go to bed on time...she was really grumpy but she was 10 so she had a right to be, she was getting old (she died a almost 2 years ago)
Shadow is usually just a talkative cat...when she wants your attention she talks your ear off

Well I read on this site that Himalayans (Shadow is part that and part some random cat...person we got her from was breeding Himalayans and the mother got outside and got friendly with another cat outside) are calm lazy cats...but on other sites I have read they are vocal and want to be treated like a queen...and that is the way Shadow is. She is very vocal and we always call her Queen Sheba cause she holds her head up high and walks around like she owns everything and everyone. She is pure black as well and I read the whole black cat page on here...maybe the spirit of the Goddess Baast is in her lol

AWWWWW, gee -- that's just part of the fun of being owned by a cat! I get nips all the time from Tarifa and Suha in particular; Calo will also bite me if we tussle, which he loves. He's a very physical cat. My angel Tomo-Taisho would BITE -- HARD -- when he was offended. What set him off was when he chased my beloved Sunny and I wagged my finger in his face while "No NO!"-ing him. That finger set him off. He got me round the wrist with his hands, and let me have it. I still bear the scars to this day, a forever reminder of my sweet Tomo and his Taisho (Boss) attitude. PS I never wagged my finger at him again -- and we got along just fine.

yeah Shadow doesn't listen when you tell her no...she sticks her nose up in the air and "humphs"
She is so bad...if she wants to lay down on the table or the ledge between the kitchen and the dinning room and something is in her way...she will knock it off and lay down. She wont care if its breakable or if its something the puppy will tear apart in seconds if he sees it lol

The fun part is the scars
I have so many all over me from so many of the cats I have had in my life. It's fun though telling the stories of how you got them

Shadow sounds like a GREAT cat! I love cats with attitude. (Of course, I might as well admit it 'cause you'll find out anyway: I LOVE ALL CATS!)

I am so sorry for the triple post but I was petting Shadow and she just bit my hand really hard for no reason what so ever. I'm getting really worried. She never does these types of things...I can't think of a single time she has bitten me before unless it was an accident while we were playing...but tonight...she's just bitting me non stop...I have teeth marks in my hand now

I am the same...I love all cats and one's with a odd personality or an attitude are always great cause you always have a laugh with them around. My whole life I have had cats and I keep telling my family that I'm going to be the old crazy cat lady when I'm Old and living on my own

...actually, I was replying to the poster who said she wants to be a cat lady when she gets old.

Well, if she's biting you hard, you may want to get that checked into -- maybe a consult with a feline behaviorist might be in order? And maybe you might want to give her some time out in another room? Anyone out there have better or more constructive ideas?

yeah I have a post on the 2nd page of Behavior about how Shadow is attacking the puppy and vet has been trying different methods to stop that.
we tried this plug in thing that releases a cat hormone into the air that supposed to calm her but it doesn't...we have separated her several times...she has been checked out by the vet and is healthy other then she has IBD which is being controlled by a long lasting steroid shot.
But she has never had aggression towards us...
The vet even told us to go to a pet therapist but we don't have the money to go to one and out pet insurance wont cover that...the pet insurance is actually cutting down on what they are covering for Shadow because we have had problems with her (Fatty liver, Feline Kennel cough and now the IBD)
So I'm worried she's now going from aggression to the dog to us

My Seamus had a rough week last week with the biting, every day he found an arm or a foot and took a nip... even jumped at my face and nipped my cheek! Part of me thinks he's had enough of me being home for the summer and he was tellin me to go away for a while, or maybe he knew he was going to the vet yesterday to get neutered and telling me he was not thrilled...
Now today, he's so darn mellow it's making me mad...

Staying away from him for a while after he bit helped... I would even get up and leave the house for a couple hours... I feel for you... maybe she's just in a mood...

Yeah could just be a mood...it is getting late as well so she could be tired and mad I'm not in bed yet so she can get in and go to sleep as well. Not normal but cats aren't always normal

I'll see how she is acting tomorrow and if she bitting continues I'll probably be giving my vet a call...they told me to tell them if she started to show aggression towards us...but one night isn't enough to tell
