oh, i am such an idiot. my father had this amainzg pocketwatch that meant so much 2 him. it stopped a bullit when he was in vietname and prolly saved his life.

so i took it to the jewlrs to have it cleaned 4 his birthday and one the way home i left it on the bus. this is sooo horribel. he's going to be devsasteted. i hope he will ever 4give me.

any advise for how 2 tell him? have any of u ever lost anything like this.

I know it sounds like a long shot, but give the bus company a call. Tell them the bus# and or route & the time you were on it. A lady I used to work with ledt her purse on the bus one morning on the way in. She immediatly called the bus company gave them her info & tel# about an hour later someone called her back. Her purse had indeed been found- intact to

There are some good souls left in the world. Perhaps one of them has found the watch and turned it in.

Don't forget to try to police as well. Sometime people turn items in to them

That would be my suggestion too.

Put an ad in your local newspaper, stressing the sentimentality (is that a word?) of the watch. Hopefully the person that found it has a heart and your message will touch them. I know you must be really upset about this and I'm sending watch finding vibes your way Good luck!

thx spuds. i hope the vibes work. im not sure whether i can afford the ad, but ill see what i can sell on ebay to raise enuf money. my dads worth it after all hes done.

If no one turns it in, you could also check the local pawn shops

Sorry to hear this. Maybe if you cannot afford to run an ad in your local paper if you told them your story they may have a heart and run it free?

Or if you have a printer, maybe print your own with a contact number and put them up near where you caught the bus?

My mother left me her wedding ring when she passed, I lost that when we moved. Every single day I feel so much guilt and upset, and hope when we meet again she can forgive me, I was absolutely distraught and still am to a degree.

Yes, do call the bus company. They have a lost and found and sometimes there is an honest person who finds something and turns it into the lost and found.

I hope someone did that for you.

Did the watchmaker clean the bullet out of the watch casing? That might make it easier to identify.

wow. the most amazing thing happened. i went to bed early last night b4 my dad got home cuz i was so ashamed.

he just called me from work and asked how my day was y'day. i broke down and told him all about the watch and said how sory i was. he said, its ok, i knew all about it.

i asked him how he knew and it turned out some1 did find the watch and since his name is engrved on the back they looked him up in the phone book and called him last night after i was asleep.

he said he loves me and was touched that i was geting his watch cleaned even tho i dont have enuf money 2 do much 4 his birthday. and he said that since i was honest with him hes gonig to buy me tickets to see inxs on monday!!!!!!

omg, what a dad!!!!

Thank goodness....a happy ending! I'm so glad an honest person found it and went out of their way to return it to your Dad. There are good people out there!

I'm so glad for this happy ending! And what a sweet, understanding dad you have.

That's a very happy ending. The newspaper should do a human interest story!!
That's great! I agree about contacting the News Paper! That person who found the watch and was honest enough to return it deserves public recognition. It's a very touching story and I'm sure the paper would love to hear about it

That is awesome that you got it back!! I cannot believe it. I am glad an honest person did find that watch and call him. That is great.

I think you should call the paper too. That is one of those feel good stories that people don't hear enough of anymore. They might just do an article on it. I am still in shock someone turned it in....

Do they have a letter to the editor section? Perhaps write a letter of thanks to the unknown person who returned the watch.
