In my own world, its much nicer there
I have never posted about Tiger because I wanted to add photo's having completely forgotten, I never had the opportunity to get some photo's.
I got Tiger in late December '95 early January '96 from a pet shop for $15. In New Zealand we had a celebrity duo Rastus and his owner. Rastus was a lovely little black cat that would go for rides on his owners motorcycle.
I thought that was cool and I only had a push bike but I lived in a caul-de-sac (sp?) so started training Tiger to ride on the the frame with his paws on the handle bars and it was actually working.
Then on the morning of March 26 1996, I was walking to school early and Tiger started to follow me, he walked to the street that our caul-de-sac ran onto. I tried to get him to go home but he chose to sit on the white line in the road. I decided to continue on to school, then I looked back just in time to see a car hit him. I was distraught and in love with Tiger, I knocked on neighbours doors asking them to call me an ambulance or an emergency vet, but no one would. About 5 or so minutes later he passed away in my arms, I had to get my neighbour to dig Tiger a grave in my garden I was just so weak and emotional. I didn't realise he was actually not a cat person but he still dug the grave and told me I should go to school, which I did. Mum was surprised, she thought I would have stayed at home, I wish I had, but I also wish a dozen other things too.

Tiger was with me for ony a brief time, but that tragic day is burned to my heart, I picture him and the accident clear as crystal on a daily basis, just like my other cat Dusty. I will post about him once I get my pics from NZ, the digital ones disappeared.

Anyway I just wanted to acknowledge Tiger.
Oh and I almost forgot, I had a priest say a few words over his grave, thats how special he was to me.

I know what you mean... My little Tiger was just as special to me, and she didn't even live to be a year old. She was the one who taught me how to understand cats; and when she got feline leukemia, I cried for days... I wish I'd gotten the chance to be with her when she died; but my mom wanted to try to hide from me that she'd been put to sleep, and I never got the chance. I guess in a perverse way you are lucky to have spent those last few moments with your little one.

Doesn't matter how long we know them... We never forget them.

Takezou as long as you still think of Tiger he'll always be alive
He sounds so precious as well from the way you've described him

What a beautiful tribute to Tiger. I cannot imagine the horror that you felt seeing Tiger get killed, but I know that even 11 years is not long enough to erase the anguish that it must have caused you. Thank you for sharing - it took love and courage to relive the past and tell us about it - from over RB, Tiger knows how much your love continues to reach him

I only remember 3 things in detail about Tiger. 1, He was an awesome kitten (approx 6mths old) learning to ride on my bike with me. 2, Seeing the accident (which I can see vividly in my mind) and 3, The poor boy died in my arms.

The one thing I am happy about is that we weren't cycling somewhere and he got startled and jumped. If that had have been the way he heads to rainbow bridge, I would have died from guilt thinking it was my fault.

I'm so sorry that you had to witness such a traumatic event.
He sounded like a really special kitten.
