I couldn't find stud pants for Rocket so I made some -- a fast, ragged cut-out job from an old dish towel and a pattern I found online. This is to contain his spraying, if and when he does, while we're waiting to see if the Prozac works.

Now the fun begins.

PS - he's wearing a collar because the vet shaved him too close for taking his blood and he's got razor burn under his chin that I'm putting ointment on.

He looks absolutely thrilled

Great job on making your own pants though!
Maybe he'd appreciate a more manly color/pattern next time?

Have you thought about putting in half an incontinence or mini pad in there?

That's what I meant by "the fun begins." I don't know....we'll see what develops.

Poor Rocket!

I just can't resist making a comment about his home-made "Fruit of the Looms"

I hope the prozac works and he doesn't need them for long...

Isn't a collar overkill for razor burn and ointment? I don't use one when my cat has small cuts.

Where whiskers abound.
How humiliating, poor kitty.

Everyone's comments were so funny. I wonder what Rocket thinks-hope you don't let him read what everyone wrote.

This is by far, the funniest post I have read all day.

I thought about that too. One of my cats has had bad chin acne, and has had his chin shaved too closely a few times, but I never had to put a collar on him. I just kept it clean and it healed nicely.

He's been scratching at it. It's not going to heal if he keeps scratching at it.

And this was more than a "small cut" -- it was an area about 1 in. by 1 1/2 in. where the epidermis had been scraped off. It was weeping and forming a crust. If he'd let it alone it would have been all right, but the scratching delays healing, not to mention possible infection from the bacteria on his feet and under his nails. It's been progressing much faster since I put the collar on.

I'm going to have to ask the vet why this happened and why she didn't mention it when she talked to me the next day to tell me about the lab results.

GOOD FOR YOU. A really caring cat-parent! Hope you get a good answer from the vet and that Rocket heals up quickly. Oh, yeah, and that his training pants work. I STILL wonder what you put in them -- wee-wee pads? Diapers? TP? What?
