I was going around today trying to sell my DH's watch. It's a citizen echo drive with diamonds around the face. He paid four hundred for it. I know it's used and we are only expecting like 150 to sell it. Anyway, I went to this one place and the girl told me she'd give me 15 dollars!!!! I was like are you serious, this is a 400$ watch. She goes "I used to sell citizen." I told her forget it and left. I don't know what her past of selling watches had to with trying to rip me off but it sure made me mad.

If you are going to go to a pawn shop do not expect more than $40 ever for it. They are in buisness to rip people off, most if not all are shady(if you know what I mean). Think Godfather when I say shady. Try going to a jewlry store. Put an add up on craigslist or on ebay. Just be prepaired to take a major cut at a pawn shop. When we needed cash my DH sold his $2500 Paul Reed Smith guitar for about $45 a few days later we went in and they had it listed for $2000. So yea they know how to get you. It's wrong but they know when people get desperate enough they will take any price.

Awww, thanks. I hope you find your dads watch. I'm sure he'll forgive you. After all you were doing a nice thing when you lost it.

Exactly. They know people who pawn things are desperate and take full advantage of that fact.

Best to sell it on ebay if you are looking to get that amount of money for it.

I remember back in the early 1980's when I broke up with my fiance. He left me in such a financial bind that I tried to pawn some of my jewellery to raise some funds. I have a gold wedding band that is 22 carot pink gold. Pink gold is rather rare and it had been appriased at almost $2,000.00 back then. The pawn shop offered me $25.00 I think. Needless to say I didn't go for it. I kept the ring
