I'd think DH is excited I'm going away without him!

He's decided while I'm in New York visiting my family he is going to go camping. His idea of camping is to hike, camp, hike back to the car. His plan is to be dropped off at a starting point and hike back to the car. Not exactly my idea of fun.

So he's not going for 2 full weeks yet. But at the moment he's showing me the shovel to dig a hole for doing business, a camping stove, a tent, his summer sleeping bag, his water filter kit, etc etc etc. All the while he is keeping up a running commentary about the general weight of each item and what else I forget. And DH is a man of few words, so really, this is odd!

He spent most of yesterday playing with his GPS program on the computer to figure out his route. (He's now showing me a bottle of biodegradable soap!
) Oh and ordering some new maps and guide books. He's sitting here with a grin on his face and he just told me he is going to set the tent up in the living room in a minute to make sure it's in good shape!

Oh he was just sitting here with his compass checking to see if it was still accurate! I think he owns as much bug spray as I do body spray!

Actually I'm going to Upstate New York. I'm not a city chick at all! I like my buildings and people a little farther apart!

I don't know if I'm the only one, but when I moved away from New York, I was baffled by everyone thinking New York means New York City. To me, New York always meant that big thing on the map. I remember showing someone in Junior High a map once and being like "See this big area? It says New York. See this little itty bitty island? It says New York CITY!"
Maybe I just wasn't old enough when I moved away to have learned that yet. Maybe it's just so dear to my heart.
