Sorry for the weird thread but I'm looking for a new coffee maker. I don't drink coffe a lot but since I'm having to get up super early and drive an hour to my clinical site 3x a week I need a little something to wake me up in the mornings. I also enjoy it on the weekends. Anyway, I'm not wanting to spend a lot on one...no more than $40. Anyone here recommend a certain brand/model?

I have a 4 cup Mr. Coffee with a timer.
It was actually around $20.

It's perfect because I have two cups of coffee to get going in the mornings, and that's all it makes.
Only downside was that it took me forever to find a reusable gold filter for it and the filter was around $8 when I did finally find one.

I have a Braun, 12 cup with a clock and drip timer that I can set up in advance. I think I bought it around 7 years ago and paid something like $50.00 for it.

If you don't drink coffee a lot, then you don't really need to spend that much money. You can get coffee maker for about $25.00 without a timer.

Here is one at Sears

I had just a regular drip coffee maker for many years and it served it's purpose just fine but I broke the pot and while I could have bought a replacement pot, decided that since I was really into coffee at that time that I wanted one with a timer.

Now it sits gathering dust because it's just easier to put on the kettle and put in a couple spoons of instant and add water when I feel like a cup of coffee instead of having to try and figure out how to make one or 2 cups of coffee in a large coffee maker.

If you only want to make 1 or 2 cups of coffee a few times per week, why not buy a jar of instant coffee? It takes up less counter room and coffee is expensive, so you aren't wasting money making more coffee than you will drink.

I have a Hamilton Beech Brewstation and I don't think I could live without it! There is something so nice about not having to muck about with coffee pots in the morning. It's kind of like a soda fountain in that you just put your cup up to the dispenser button and it pours right in your cup. It's fantastic for those 'I'm not awake enough for this' mornings
Although it looks like a coffee pod machine, it's not. It uses regular filters and ground coffee.

I could only find the Brewstation Plus on the walmart site (see here: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=4939245 ) but I got the regular Brewstation at walmart for about $20. It is a 12 cup, and while I usually only make 4 or 6 cups.. In my case, I like having the ability to make more in case I have people over my house for dinner or something. When I lived at my apartment I only had a 4 cup coffee maker... I ended up having a few people over and ended up spending like an hour making coffee for everyone cuz I had to keep brewing more pots! Oy, never again

Because of your wake up time I wouldn't buy one with out a timer. Here's a list from Target. http://www.target.com/gp/browse.html...?node=12994471

I grind my beans right before I go to bed and set the timer. When I wake up I have fresh hot coffee waiting for me.

I don't know much about prices, I got my Gevalia 2 cup maker for free. It works GREAT...but I don't have much to compare it to...but, I'm sure you can find a good deal online! Good luck!

You might try typing in "4 cup coffee maker" in the search function on e-Bay. I just did and came up with 66 hits. I bet you could find a very inexpensive one that way. Most of them that I found were about $5 with $10 shipping, of course shipping would depend on where you are. I love e-Bay! I usually check e-Bay before I buy anywhere else. I've gotten some really great deals there. So far, I've never had a bad e-Bay shopping experience.

trust us...the timer is SO WORTH IT. It's just one less thing you have to remember so early in the morning.

I don't drink a lot of coffee at home, and my dh doesn't drink it at all. So I actually have a single serve Black & Decker Home CafÃ[emoji]169[/emoji] System. You use coffee pods, and you have can have a cup of cappucino one minute, and a cup of regular the next. It rocks!
It's a little more money, but to me it's worth it, because it only takes about one minute to brew, and there is no wasted coffee. You can set it up the night before with the pod and water and just hit the button in the morning, and you are good to go!!

Good luck in finding one that is right for you!

I have a regular 4-cup Mr Coffee. I think it was on sale for $15 when I bought it. I've had Westinghouse and Black & Decker before, trust me Mr Coffee is the best.
My first Mr Coffee Lasted for years. Replaced it with a Westinghouse. That made it 2 yrs. Then I bought a Black & Decker, that barely made it a year. So I have a Mr Coffee again. I think the newer ones come completely apart and can be put in the dishwasher.

I used to put everything in the coffee maker at night when I was in college & had to get up early, and when I worked the super early shift at Target. Then I just turned on the coffee maker when I got up.

Well, I found a coffee maker by Mr. Coffee on eBay. It's programmable, 12 cup (won't drink that much on a daily basis but great for company), and it's brand new in box. I've seen it at the stores and it sells for over $60 and I got it for $22.86!
I can't wait to get it (am I retarded for being excited about a coffee maker?)

Congrats! I get excited when I buy something new too.

At the end of July I decided to use some of my air miles to get a few things. It's been like Christmas this whole month as my items arrive

Got my microwave first.
Then my mandolin slicer and scale
Then my waffle iron
Then my fan, only they sent me the wrong one so they have to pick it up and send me the right one.

Getting new things, even a coffee maker is so exciting
