Hi, really need some suggestions for my cat.

I would like her to use to the outside to go to the loo and not her 'litter tray'.

She has now had acess to the back garden for 6 weeks (after being spayed), and so I removed her litter tray after 2 weeks of being allowed outside. But instead she will find a corner and go to the loo there on the carpet.

Any suggestions on how I can train her as I really do not want to start using her litter tray again.

Thanks

Dan

I've personally never understood training a cat to go outdoors. Is scooping really that much of a chore?

For now, I'd reinstate the box to prevent further soiling of your house. You might try taking her outside with some of her poo and show her where you want it. You might also try putting her out when she's most likely to go potty like first thing in the morning, after meals and after play time.

Dan..is it peeing or pooping or both? More information would be appreciated.

you could try getting the litter tray back out and every day move it closer to the door then put it outisde.

Since the cat has been using the kitty litter box his whole life.... you can't just take it away and 'expect' the cat to start going outside. You have to slowly introduce the cat to going elsewhere. I may have missed this but do you have a little door where he can go in and out as pleased? Does your cat use it? Until he starts going outside all the time, I don't think I would take away the kitty litter box.... Hopefully, someone that has done this before will come along and help you out. I hope you get things sorted out!

I don't have an outdoor cat, so I'm by no means an expert, just throwing out an idea... Maybe put some litter outside in the spot you want her to go so she associates that spot with going?
