I think I ate a bad loaf of garlic bread last night.
It was weird because it tasted funny so I only ate one piece and threw it out.

My stomach was hurting so bad I couldn't stand it.
I woke up around 3 am feeling

Then DH woke me up around 6:30 this morning saying he felt sick too.
Come to find out, he ate a piece of it too and was feeling sick.

I think I'm done with garlic bread for a looooooooooong time.

In my own world, its much nicer there
Seems a bit odd, what else did you eat for dinner?

Garlic bread is just that, bread with some garlic butter occasionally some preservatives. There would have to be some serious cross contamination going on for garlic bread to cause you to be sick. If its still in the trash, I would recommend you have it analysed just to make sure. I would say that the company would be in some pretty big trouble if that were the case.

Hope you feel better though.

I am from England but currently live in Yorktown V
I love Garlic bread, but its so simple I agree, it would be unlikely that it caused the problem, how ever if it had gone bad due to impropper storage (at the store) or cross contamination, I would deffinatly ring the company and speak with them!
BTW food poisoning SUCKS...I got the campylobactor (sp?) strain from a bakery (couldnt proove it because I ate the whole bacon and cheese pastry
it was goooooood!) I felt absolutly rotten for about 3 days, hopefully because you only had one piece your not to ill!

Thats the hard part if you have consumed the whole lot of something. The reason such proof is needed is food poisoning can happen anywhere between a few hours to ten days, therefore you buy something premade, end up sick and accuse that company when it could have been another company or even your own cooking. Also if you are like the first complainant, then they do need a sample of what you ate unless of course there have been dozens of accusations toward that company, bakery or restaurant.

I hope I'm not coming across as a jack butt.

this topic is part of my specialty.

Was the bread frozen or fresh?
It was fresh. I called the store a little while ago and a manager is going to call me back.
I did keep a piece to take to them.

I don't know what it could have been

Garlic bread is often made with preserved minced garlic that comes in little glass jars -- and there have been a lot of instances of botulism and other kinds of disease arising from that kind of garlic. That might be the source of it.

Most cases of "food poisoning" is due to cross contamination from raw ground meat, raw chicken, raw eggs or reused dish cloths/sponges which when used just spread around the bacteria.

I have separate cutting boards for beef, chicken and veggies. And I don't prepare my veggies in the same place as I prepare chicken or ground meat. And I buy J-Cloths and use one a day, throwing the used ones into the washing machine to be washed with my next laundry load. I also never use my dish towel more than 2 days in a row. After that it joins the used J-Cloths in the washing machine and I pull out a new one.

It's possible that the garlic bread might have become contaminated at the store through cross contamination or from your own kitchen, which can innocently happen because we tend to not think on a microscopic level and if we see a "clean" counter, we automatically think it really is clean.

I loves me some garlic bread. I just had garlic bread with melted cheese last night at dinner. It was thoroughly yum.

Takezou - the garlic bread in the US is different to what we have in NZ - it is very good. I miss American garlic bread! It is possible that Alycia got food poisoning from garlic bread. I study microbiology and so I get to know a bit about the microbes.

I love garlic bread, too...we usually get the frozen kind, but you could look for a good recipe & make your own, then you'll now for sure that you're using good ingredients.
