What is the little icon on the left?

It's on the lists of threads. I pretty much figured out the locked threads because they have a lock over them, but was wondering why some envelopes are opened, some closed, some have sheets of paper, some red or blue.

Just curious! Thanks in advance.

At the bottom of each forum, under the display options, the key for those icons is given -- basically it's whether there are new posts in the thread or not, whether you've posted to it, the activity level of the thread -- that sort of thing.
