thanks to those who replied, I have started kitty on Tapazole and was told that his blood will have to be checked after 4 weeks on the Tapazole.
The vet said the dental work cannot be done until the thyroid is stabilized.
The vet told me that I may want to have kitty get radioactive iodine treatment at some point in the future as that would eliminate having to give him a pill twice a day for the rest of his life.
