I just tuned 28 and I can't decide if they actually make me look younger of if they just make me look like I'm trying to look younger.

I don't know. IMO they shouldn't really be wore as it tends to split the hairs in the back into that part which is very hard to get out and grow normal. Your hair tends to "part" in the back whether or not you have them in.

But I would say if you are under 30 it would be ok; after then it would just look weird IMO. Depends on how "youthful" you look in your 20's.

BTW I have longer hair and will pull it back when its hot and wear in a ponytail only

I don't do it often enough for the part to become "permanent" so I'm not too worried about that and I like to think I look youthful!

Oh man I wish I had your outlook!!!!!!

I'm getting better, but I do worry quite a bit still about what others say and think!!!

Props to you for that wonderful attitude!!!

See I have a personal interest in how I look. I prefer to look nice because it makes me feel good... not because it makes others like me or approve.

OUCH thatâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s harsh! If youâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]re responding to my post above, Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m a bit offended. But, if Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m mistaken and reading too much into your post, my apologies.

To clarify my position - it's not that I don't care what I look like. It's just that I don't care what you (society as a collective whole) think of the way I look.

In fact, I take GREAT PRIDE in the way I look, and I will toot my own horn and say I am fabulous at 40 (dh says Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m more attractive now (vs in my teens and 20s when I was modelling) because I have a sense of accomplishment, power and self confidence about me)! I'm at an age in my life where I don't give a rat's azz whether or not you like my hair color, my choice of clothes or the shoes Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m wearing. Bottom line, I donâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t need societyâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s approval to feel good about myself. I feel good about myself just by being myself – whether Iâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]m wearing makeup or not.

Beauty is not about cosmetics and wearing makeup or having your hair in a ponytail or pigtails, itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s about knowing who you are and loving yourself for your faults and your strengths. Itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s about looking in the mirror, seeing yourself au natural, and saying “hello gorgeous!â€

I think it's all about how you feel...commonly you can wear them up to adulthood as long as they chnage: high on the head as a little girl, low to the neck as a maturing teen, I'm 20 and every now and then I'll wear my short bob in a couple of loose/messy pigtails in the middle of my head. But, I think when you are an adult with a stable job and/or a family the pigtails should be strictly for house and yard work....but that's just my take.

I like pigtails and will do them on occassion, but sometimes they feel too... I guess the most I will say is naughty, as it would relate to Britney Spear's school uniform video...

I'm sorry, it wasn't meant as harsh and I don't feel it was. I LOVE your stance and happen to share it... that's what I was trying to say. I like to look nice for myself and not because I'm worried about what the world think of me. I actually made that post because of what DaniMarie said below... and again, it wasn't meant as harsh or confrontational... I was simply expressing my views. Now, I'd hate to see this thread digress into who's offending whom.

Ya, maybe that's why they just "don't feel right" wearing them to work sometimes.

I think it depends on the outfit and the place. For instance, I'm 24 but I wore my hair in pigtails on a float trip.
