He passed away in ICU early this afternoon.
He'd been in intensive care for a little over a week, recovering from an emergency surgery on his intestine. Things were looking good, then his vitals dropped last night. They managed to stabilize him this morning, but by this afternoon, he'd already gone into arrest once. We decided that performing CPR a second time (he was already maxed out on all drugs) would only serve to crack his ribs, so when he arrested again, we let him go... I just remember looking up at the monitor, hearing the alarm and seeing a solid red line across the screen with "asystole"...

I miss him already...

I'm so sorry about your father-inlaw. It is good to know that you were lucky enough to have a good relationship with him, alot of people don't like their inlaws. At least he isn't suffering now. I hope you and your family will heal, i know it takes time. But everyone here at TCS is here to listen to your screaming, crying, memories, anything you want to let out, or even if you just want to be quiet and listen to others *hugs*

You and your family are in my prayers

May he rest in peace.

Give your husband a big hug from all of us here at TCS. He needs you more now than ever. Be patient with him. When my DH lost his father he did nothing but play first person shooter games for a month strieght. Just be there for him and know that we are here for you.
