Skin condition?

Popsie is always scratching at his neck and I've noticed that small clumps of hair will come loose with a chunk of dead skin on them. (Ewwww) Could this be a type of skin condition. He's 16 and I feed him purina vitality formula dry food. I'm going to change to a better food soon but I'm waiting till' his current bag is almost gone.

Have you checked him for fleas? Sounds like he could have 'em. But it could be something else; the food is another possibility. You are thinking of upgrading his diet? Good for you!

It sounds like it might be an allergy. That is what my flea-allergic cat does when she gets a flea bite.
