Hi I'm new here and I really need some help I have 2 cats, one is 6 and one 3. My problme is with my 3 yr old cat. she seems to have a little OCD, if shoes aren't put up, or clothing like a sock or something falls on the floor, she pees on it. Also if she doesn't like a rug she pees on that too. If I can't fix this problem she will have to go to a new home. Please help we don't want to lose her but I can't have the peeing, I have 2 small children and things end up on the floor once in a while, it needs to stop. I am willing to try anything. please help quick

Knee deep in cat litter
If you can afford it, I would take her to the vet to get checked out. The reason being that a lot of times cat will pee on things because they are trying to tell you they are not feeling well. You might want to have her checked for a urinary tract infection. Other than getting her checked over, I am not sure what else to suggest. I am sure others might be able to help you out more. Sorry you are having this problem and I hope it can get taken care of so you don't have to get rid of her.

My cat periodically experiences elimination problems too. The vet figured out it was an anxiety-related issue. They wanted to prescribe Prozac for this problem. I refused to put my cat on Prozac but I have friends who did and they reported that it actually stopped the inappropriate behavior!! It's just something to consider.

the thing is we took her to the vet for this and after some very expensive testing we came home with a healthy cat with behavioral problems as the vet put it

When did this start?

How are your yunguns with her? Have they been taught what are appropriate and inappropriate ways to interact with a cat?

this is a good vet, my family and I have been taking our animals there for over 20yrs, I trust these people completely, the cat is healthy, I need help getting her to stop like suggestions on things in her envirnment. Her and my other cat share a box both females, would it be helpful to get her her own maybe, but than how would I keep the other out of it. Anyways, the cat is totally healthy. they are willing to give her drugs to like kitty prozac to try to stop it but I would like to try to avoid pumping her with drugs

OK. Clue #1. It started after you moved.

Where is the box located? How is that location different from where it was in the other house?

Does she *ever* use the box?

Are you using a different litter now?

I would get another litter pan. It may be that the one cat is bullying or bothering her when trying to use it. Have you ever seen her use the pan? Maybe put her and the litter pan and food/water in one room for a few days to be sure she is using it.

Have you changed the litter or food since you've moved? Are they totally indoor cats?

the box is in my bedroom just like before, she does use it. As far as litter we have tried a few kinds but it doesn't seem to make a difference. When she poops she blances all four legs on the edge of the box so she doesn't have to touch the litter, and if her sister goes in before her she'll poo on the floor out front of the box

the older cat does tend to bully her away from the box, any ideas on how to keep the other cat out of the new box?

Sure sounds she doesn't like that box. I wouldn't ignore this...

Again, how long ago did this behavior start? Did *anything* in the house change at that time?

I haven't but I will look into that today. I only have 1 month to fix her problem, I will do whatever it takes. She's my baby and my daughter's best friend, it would be so hard on her if she had to go
