Well we may or may not be able to help...but we can try

We have a 2 year old female cat named Spici who freaks out like your cat. One minute she will be rolling around & all lovable...the next minute she is running away from us hissing. When she gets all crazy, we just go & pet her to tell her everything is okay. We try & calm her down. We also try to see if maybe she wanted to play. We try everything but usually its just because shes hyper.

Whenever she does get all crazy - we check her to see if she is sensitive anywhere, in case she does need to go to the vet. Sometimes cats can act out if they are hurting...But shes a healthy cat, just a little crazy.

It might just be how your cat acts, just keep watching him

my cat does this as well, but not to that degree. It's usually her being playful, even in the middle of the night which is seriously creepy!

I agree with the previous post, to reassure your cat that everything is alright. Perhaps your cat is afraid of something and when he goes near it he does this.

or, it could just be energy. Mine will look at me suddenly, then jump off the walls and down the hall in a flash sometimes just because she has so much pent up energy, and that's when i play with her to get it out. Perhaps that is what is going on as well.

I'd try to analyze his behavior to see if he's afraid of something, or being playful....

IMO they are going into the "stalking" mode - natural and nothing really creepy about it. Usually they do it when another cat is walking in...kinda like a sneak attack.

Ok, so it is him being afraid. That's the first step, I guess. Now, is there something in particular that makes him afraid? someone moving too fast, new people in the house, something like that? You see him running and hiding, but what from?

he's def not stalking but his def scared of something. but its different things that triggerit, sometimes when i feed him he creeps away when he is usually happy and eager to eat! sometimes you can just look at him and he is already in creepy mode. sometimes he comes out of it easy other times not.. ive had cats my whole life and never seen this behavior

One of my cats never got used to my husband's big clunky shoes (or even quiet Nikes) and would take off if he was wearing them.

A sudden and unexplained change in a cat's behavior is a signal for a vet visit. They frequently exhibit confusing behavior when they don't feel well.

One of my cats, Kayla, is like that. She slinks from the room whenever DH comes in. Actually, she does that to everyone but me. DH calls her psychokitty because she gets scared and slinks away whenever she sees anyone. She's 7 years old and will just now sometimes hang out in a room if there are people other than me in there.

I don't know why she's like that. If it's just me (at night, after the kids are asleep) then she is loving and wants to play or cuddle and acts just like a normal cat. My hubby is in the navy and I joke that when he is at sea then Kayla has custody of me.
