Well after being on 5 mg of pred every other day Jordan's blood calcium went up again. Not that it was a supprise to me, he hasn't been eating very well. So looks like he needs to be on 5 mg of pred every day. I'm not thrilled about the idea of that, but I know he's not completly comfortable right now and I'd rather see him comfortable. So 2 weeks at 5 mg a day & if his blood calcium is within normal he will stay at that dose for a couple of months & then retest, unless something changes. I don't know how long he's got, but I'll feel better when he's eating normally again.

It will take awhile to find the right dose for Jordan. For me it was the relief of seeing Rambo act like Rambo again...that i didn't care what the dose was as long as he was happy!! Once you start to build up the prednisone in his system you might be able to start weaning back again to every other day....good luck and give Jordan some cuddles for me!

I'm so sorry to hear about Jordan. It's so exhausting and draining to get your hopes up and then have another setback. I experienced the same thing with Pippin. Do the vets know what is wrong with Jordan? I read some of your past posts, but you only mention a possibility of cancer. I hope I'm not prying.
At any rate I hope he gets to feeling better and stop worrying his mommy so much.

They don't know for sure. The combination of chronic constipation with an elevated blood calcium point to cancer, most likely Lymphoma. I don't want to do exploritory surgeory so they did x-rays & an ultra sound, both of which showed nothing. So it's really unclear as to exactly what is going on. For now he has 2 diagnoses (or what ever the right word is). Idiopathic Mega Colon & Idiopathic Hypercalcimia.

I'm sorry to hear that Jordan hasn't been comfortable. I hope the increased prednisone helps him. At this point it's probably more important to keep him comfortable and eating than worry about the large dose. With luck you may be able to reduce it later. Positive vibes and hugs to both of you.

Poor guy!
I hope the pred gets him feeling better. It's so tough when they have chronic illness with no clear diagnosis.
for you and Jordan

The pred seems to be working it's magic. Last night he ate with only small assistance from me (I spoon fed him just 2 spoon fulls he at the rest on his own). Then the great thing is after he ate instead of laying down in the corner by himself, he came & laid down on the back of the couch next to me. He is also jumping in my arms & crawling on my shoulder. I cry every time he does that because that's my favorite thing that he does. I don't think he will ever be full-on Jordan again, but at least he seems much more comfortable right now.
