Stay safe Rigel, Gema, Milky and Catulina!

With Hurricane Dean barreling down on the Yucatan Penninula and expected to land as a Category 5, I wanted to send my vibes and prayers to be with nuestros amigos (our friends) in Merida. Merida is more toward the middle of the penninsula, but I'm sure the force of this hurricane will be bad when it hits there.

Looks like Rigel and family are getting the outside bands. Here's the latest satellite image to show where Merida is compared with where Dean is.

I don't see Merida on the map -- is it off to the south?

If you go to mapquest.com and type in Merida, Mexico you will see where it is .... its hard to explain with words where it is on that map.

Rigel said on Friday that he only has internet access on weekdays, so I asked him to check in Monday and let us know how things are going. Since he hasn't, I suspect he and his crew may already have evacuated to safer ground. Sure hope so!
