Hi,

My cat had 4 kittens this morning, they all seem fine although I am worried about one of them. This little one was born about 4 hours ago now and doesn't seem to be latching onto a nipple. I did manage to get him onto one where he stayed a little while ago but since then he somehow came off (mum moved a bit) and now no matter how hard I try he will just not latch on. He weighs 83 grams which i think is on the small side, what would you suggest I do next? Is he too small to survive? How long should I leave it until I consider trying to feed him myself?

Thanks very much x

Sorry, just got online...

Keep trying to get him to a nipple - look for a nipple that is well used. Rotate that nipple(s) between the kittens - if the kitten is failing, then yes, please do supplemt feeds. Check though the stickys for the formula.

Hi,

Thanks for replying, looks like panic is over, he has now latched on very nicely, and has been for most of the afternoon, lets hope he will put on lots of weight and build up his strength! Thanks again, will be posting piccies soon! x
