Ok well today I noticed that my 6 year old male cat Gizmo had what looks to be a cut on the inside of his left eye..........or so I think it is a cut
, but I'm not sure. I'm 99% sure this was not there yesterday, but this morning GIzmo and my other female cat Ginger were playing/fighting and I'm starting to wonder if she might have kicked him in the face and gave him a cut, Ginger has no front claws, but does use her back legs. Now neither of my cats go outside, they are strictly indoor only.

I'm just wondering if anyone here can help me figure out what to do? Do you think I need to contact a vet or do you think this will heal on its own? Gizmo is not acting any different or anything, but I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Here are 2 pictures, the first one is his right eye which is fine and the second one is his left eye which is the one in question.

Good eye:

Bad eye

So any ideas?

If it were me, I'd at least contact the vet. Something like that could easily get infected and damage a tear duct or his eye. And he may even have a scratched cornea, which may not be visible to you right now. The vet would probably just give you a tube of antibiotic ointment and that would take care of it.

Yeah, I'm going to call the vet tomorrow morning. Does it look infected?

This cat is going to make me broke

Since I got him 6 years ago he has had the following:

Knocked a glass of water off of the counter because he wanted to know what was in it, then jumped down DIRECTLY on the broken glass. That took 10 stitches to close. $600 bill

I was cooking steak in a pan I turned my back for all of 10 seconds when I turned back Gizmo had his nose in the HOT pan and burnt his nose and lips. $400 bill

He thought he could fit in a heating vent that is 7 inches round..............needless to say he got stuck and I had to cut the vent out of the wall. $200 bill

Getting him fixed and shots. $200 bill

Now this.................I can only imagine what this is going to cost me

So he's feisty, huh?? I have one of those too! I couldn't say for sure that it's infected, but it does look inflammed and painful. After he swipes it a few times with his paw, it could start getting worse. With it being so close to his eye,I wouldn't want to risk it. If you have a regular vet, you might could just stop by and get a tube of ointment without a visit if you think his eye wasn't scratched. Anyway...best of luck and welcome to TCS!!
