Can anyone please help? My partners mother died suddenly Saturday leaving her 9 yr old "soul mate" behind. She has never gone out, she has been an indoor cat since rescued & was so attached to Jean her owner. Slept on her in front of the TV every night & went to bed with her & cuddled her there too.
My partner has obviously picked her up & taken her home, but he already has a cat who is very attached to him (she goes out) but this a little more worrying as she could run away if unhappy enough!
The existing cat Tina has just gone berserk! spitting, growling, chasing poor Lucy who is so scared. It's a horrid situation, both cats are obviously very unhappy & so the family.
I had suggested keeping Lucy the new in-comer in her basket so that Tina may get used to her scent but the moment poor Lucy came out to eat Tina chased her spitting & lashing out.

It's all too much with everyone grieving. Is there anything we can do to settle the cats & put an end to their anxiety's ?

Any help gratefully received. Chastelaine

Give me one second to search for the thread I want on introductions. What you are going through with the kitties is normal, it always takes time for them to accept each other. I will be back shortly with a link to a thread, I promise!

Thank you very much, will try this.

Funny but there was another cat in the house "a white cat"sadly died just after xmas. Tina was first in thew house & when Rosy the white cat was bought in a few months later, Tina tollerated her, but they were never freinds. Tina clung to my partner & Rosy to his daughter. When Rosy died, Tina was in her eliment! The only cat in the house & so happy..... this introduction now just seems too much for her.

Il let you know how it goes. Thanx again Chastelaine
