After I brush Dexter, usually in the early AM, he likes to follow his brushing by taking his bath---
on my pillow on my bed.

He likes comfort.

Do your sweetie pies think (know) that your bed belongs to them?

... is there ANYWHERE ELSE for them to sleep?

My old boy has his own pillow, up against the headboard. My pillow goes in front of it. The others make do, beside me, or at my feet ...

My Husband told me just the other day that he thinks we need to get a bigger bed because there isn't enough room for us and all three cats...not to mention the occassional kid who had a bad dream.

Not my bed, but my big old chair, certainly belongs to Baby. I wonder whether she'll ever give it back. Probably not.

Strangely enough, no. These are the first cats I've ever had that don't care for the bed. A couple of them, however, are absolutely insistent that my lap belongs to them and should be ready for their use at a moment's notice.

I got up the other evening (we were watching tv, not sleeping yet), and Cindy jumped over DH, got comfortable on my side of the bed, and proceded to take a bath. She was a sweetie when I came back in though, and moved over close to the edge so I could fit in there too. But we sure did have a good laugh over it.

We humans must never give up the right to sleep on their beds.

Otherwise we will end up sleeping on their floor.

Oh absolutely the bed is theirs and we are allowed to use it if we don't disturb them. Of course my husband does not cater to them so all three end up on my side. I wake up often with having a cat on either side of me (slightly on me if it is a cold night) and one at me feet. They know whom they can take advantage of.

I call that the three-cat wedge formation. It is the cause of many a stiff neck or back, in my case! (actually I suffer from a variation of your pattern -- one on each side and one on my HEAD!).

Yes I have had the cat on the head too but my hubby does not take kindly to waking up with a cat butt in his face
And yes, I have many mornings with a stiff back and neck.
