HI there,

I am only new to this forum so if you can redirect me if this question has been asked before please do.

Anyway I have adopted 2 rescue cats from the SPCA last week, one was abondened and 1 was there for rehoming. So no they had not lived in the same home before. They are both male, desexed and 2 and 3 years old.

We are sort of letting them discover the house by themselves at the moment. So far we have had a little hissing but nothing serious.

Any advise...????

Thanks!

Give them plenty of time to get adjusted to each other. Supervise them when they are together. They will, probably, do fine together. Just remember that one of them will come out the dominant one and that is fine. Most fixed males will end up being buddies, but it takes time. As long as you are patient, they will adjust.

Make sure you give them separate litter boxes and separate food and water dishes - preferably in different areas of the house. This will make things a little smoother. You may be able to eliminate the double food and water in the future.

Things are going much better today
.

I did give them seperate litter boxes and feed and water dishes but they were in the same space. They eat within 2 mtr distance from each other and seem to accept each other a little better.

I just give them time and hopefully things will work out.

Sounds like they are right on track. That is quick for them to already be that ok with each other. They are going to be fine.
