My cat is a serial killer!

Thread Starter
I have a cat that I found in the woods about 2 years ago. This is the sweetest cat in the world except he constantly kills other animals/birds etc. The things he kills are getting bigger and bigger. Last week, he brought home a rabbit. His kills are very grotesque because he decapitates everything. I don't know what to do because I'm afraid he will bring home someone's chihuahua or something one day. Any suggestions?

i don't know what to say you...your cat is really great hunter!!! my Panda is also good, but not so good. she bring home a lot of mouses, sometimes a bird, but never rabbit or something bigger...take care of your cat, and try don't let her out without control

The only suggestion I have for you is to have your cat wear a collar outdoors with a very loud bell (or a couple of bells) on it. It may give the other animals enough advance warning. Of course be sure that the collar is the "breakaway" type for saftey.

When Georgie my parents cat catches animals he leaves the intestine and kidney and a few other bits for them on the kitchen floor, everything else gets eaten or left outside, its disgusting, they think they are giving you gifts.

I would sugest a coller with a bell as Miss Mew sugested

If you don't want him bringing the outside in, keep him indoors only.

Congratulations. You have a healthy, active, perfectly natural cat. (Who now has as taste for rabbit which is apparently very delectable to them. VERY delectable! Don't be surprised if you see more.)

I really don't think you have to worry about the neighbors' dogs. Otherwise, if you can't tolerate your cat's hunting, the only solution is to keep him inside. Since he's used to being an outdoor cat, I don't think he's going to like that much. I'd suggest just getting used to cleaning up the messes. I don't know how many times I've picked up that little piece of mouse internals that Rocket won't eat.
