I keep reading that show cat's don't usually wear collars regularly as the collar mark on their neck is frowned on. So, I wonder then, is it ok for show cats to be tattooed. I ask because even if the cat is chipped people don't always know to have a found cat scanned for a chip but an ear tattoo might tip them off that the cat did/does belong to someone.

I think they are allowed to be tattooed but I am not sure on this. I have never seen one tattooed and I do not tattoo any of my cats.

Over here it is allowed, but most don't as it detracts from the look of the cat especially in a white or light coloured cat.

I believe that is the only "identifying" marks allowed in the associations. But that would not really tell the judge who's cat it is
