my pregnet cat was limping yesterday when I noticed a hairless bloody red spot on her left front paw. Unfortunatlity we have no vet in our town and the nearest one is over 2 hours away. So I called them and asked what I Should do. I talked to one of the vets assistants who said they couln't take her in today but if the bleeding wasn't that bad there was neno needn to go in and that I should put some antibiotic oniment on it to prevent it from getting infected. I asked if it needed to be a speceial kind and she said no. So I gave some Triple antibiotic oinment ment for humans and though all would be okay, but will it? After reading a scary post about how eye antiboitics can cause brain damage in kittens I am wondering if I did the right thing? I just rubbed a little on her paw twice so far, and she has licked it off both times. The stuff I used is Qulity Choice Triple antibiotic oinmennt Plus pain reliver and the active ingredients an amounts are
bacitracin 500 units
neomycinm sulfate 3.5 mgm
polymyxin-b sulfate 10,000 units
pramoxine hydrochloride 10 mg

any help would be apparacted. Me my cat, and kittens depend on it!!

Thanks

That should be fine, but I would try to get her to not lick it, although that will be difficult. I assume that if a vet clinic is so far, a pet store is also? I was going to suggest an E-Collar. That is the plastic thing that goes around their neck to prevent licking. It would have to be big enough so she cannot reach her paw around and lick it.

Thanks for the reply. It good to know that she and the kittens will okay. We don't have petstore or vet. Great Idea about the e-coller, but I think that she is due to have kittens at any time, so I think correct me if i'm wrong but this would interfer with the things she has to do the newborn kittens. Will post pics as soon as the kittens are born which based on her actions should be very soon.
