Please tell me what food you think is better. I only have convenient access to food at Petco and my cats need a dry food that is high in protein but low in calories compared to other dry foods. I feed wet food too but my Spotty can't be convinced to eat only wet. Royal Canin has 37% protein and 15% fat and only 339 calories per cup. Castor and Pollux Indoor formula has 36% protein and 11% fat and more protein coming from meat but it also had dried fruit which you can also see in the kibble and I don't like that. Cats are not meant to eat dried payapa, dried bananas, dried apples. So what do you think?

Royal Canin Beauty and Fit:

We feed the RC. I guess it would depend on if your cat eats fruit. Charlie likes some fruits, but not sure if he'd like the dried kind. I don't think it would hurt, but I'm sticking to RC.

Too bad they don't have samples before you buy a bag of the cat foods. With Sharky's breakdown, the RC is the better food in the long run

I believe Petco ,and most pet food stores for that matter, will always give a full refund if you return an open but mostly unused bag of food with the purchase receipt.

I was advised by Sharky that Nutro would be a better choice because of the lack of ground corn. Apparently corn creates more stool in the litter box. So I may switch but currently I still have a 3.5 pound bag to use up and any dietary change has to be made slowly.

I don't use the ash in my calculation. Foods that I have the as fed info for when I do my calculations I am closer to the as fed without ash. I do not have the as fed for either of these foods. I did request that from RC but they did not supply info for ash or carbs.

Can someone tell me the carbohydrate level of Nutro Natural Choice versus RC Beauty and fit and I'll make my decision based on that. By the way I found out in another cat forum(not going to mention which one) that Nutro does not use USDA inspected meat. Apparently they believe both Nutro and RC are both bad dry foods but if I get this picky it's going to be really hard to feed my cats especially buying from Petco my most convenient pet food stop.
