I just got back from the Vet and they gave me Amoxicillin 100mg & Chlorpheramine Maleate 4mg for Tiki. She's got a bladder infection and has an allergy that is making her eyes run more than they should. I just tried giving her the meds...Boy, was that fun! The first pill went down good, but the second one wasn't as easy. I ended up crushing it and adding a tiny amount of water to it, then used a syringe to gradually squirt it in her mouth. She took the water/antibotic pretty good, but I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. I tried putting it in food and she refused to touch it. I even tried putting it in human food and she still wouldn't come near it. Any suggestions? Did I do the right thing? Any suggestions would be very helpful! Thanks!

The best way to pill a cat is with a pill gun (your vet has one, it is about $1.40 (at least here it is)

The best way to pill her: Load the pill gun. Kneel on the floor cross your ankles behind you. Put kitty between your legs so her back is to your lap, and her head faces out. Scruff her gently on the neck, raise her head, and gently insert the pill gun into her mouth and shoot. (boy I wish they would come up with a new name for that device!)

In this position she will backpedal against you, be unable to escape as she will meet the resistance of your body and your ankles being crossed will stop her from squeezing out of that space there.

Once you are done, hold her gently, give her a treat and a pet and let her go. Works every time. Giving her the pills in liquid form is a bit risky because you could unintentionally shoot the liquid down the wrong way.

Good luck!
