I get itchy a lot and I don't know if it's nerves or dry skin or what. Well sometimes I'll get a spot that won't quit itching and I scratch and scratch. After that I'll get these little red spots under my skin that will look kinda like blood blisters or something. Then they will turn purple and look like a bruise. I go to the doc Fri. for a check up and I tried to take a pic because it's kinda hard to explain but the pics won't come out good. It only seems to occur on the upper parts of my legs such as hips and thighs, sometimes on my stomach. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

When you scratch do you get hive welts in the areas you scratch?

Have a look at these links:

I have Dermatographism and it's awful! I live on Benadryl and actually use sharp objects like a dry loofah or a dry bottle brush, or even my cat's wire brush to scratch because scratching with anything that isn't sharp leads to more hives and more itching.

My hives appear in the areas you mention in addition to my back, which are areas where clothing fits close to the body and can irritate the skin.

It's not like hives at all. The red spots are underneth the skin. It's so wierd.

Over the river and through the woods...
I get bad bumps like that when I'm really stressed out about something, then when I scratch they get irritated. I don't know why I get them. The doctor even said they were from stress and not a reaction to something. He said use cortisone cream on them to stop the itching. Well...I could have figured that out on my own!

Without pictures it's impossible to say.

Make sure you show the doctor. Perhaps a complete blood work up should be done to rule out liver and platelet problems.

I had one of those spots next to a spider bite not that long ago and my mom said it was probably just a broken capillary and it should go away, and it did in about a day or so. But yea ask your doc!
