Hello All!

I am WannaKit'n, I own 4 cats, but two of them live at my dad's house so I only see them when I go there since I live with my mum. My other two are outdoor cats and don't like to come inside too much so I only see them when they are in the garden then I go and play with them.

I really want to adopt a new kitten. I have to convince my mum first.
Any tips on how to do that??

And any advice on kittens would be much help!!

Get a kitten from somebody you can trust, not the pet shop or a breeder without a reputation. To learn about the house where they are being raised, go to visit the cats and try to show up unannounced once or twice to see the cats. If they try to hide them from you or won't let you see everything, something may be fishy.

Alternately you can adopt a rescued cat from your neighbourhood cat rescue operation. These cats can require lots of care to come around, but the rewards are palpable if you're up to the task.

Getting a kitten from a family that have inadvertently gotten their own cat pregnant can be a good go. Chances are the mother and kittens are all well treated and when the kittens are used to being handled early, they are usually easy to handle their whole lives.

Beyond that, let your heart be your guide. One little ball of furry wonder will look in your eyes or cuddle up in your lap and you'll know you are meant to be together.

Hi there
we're so happy to get the chance to welcome you and your kitties to TCS.

When talking to your Mum, make sure that you think about all the costs of taking in another kitty including the Vet costs for immunisations each year, spay/neutering and the costs for any unexpected illnesses that might come up.

If you and your Mum decide to offer a home to a new kitty, visit your local shelter and see if you can give hope to a homeless kitty
