Ring Tones

Ok, I got a new cell phone and I've been hunting for good ringtones for it. The problem is every time I find one I like it's from a site where I can't buy just ONE ring tone. Instead, they want me to sign up for monthly downloads for a great low price! Well, that's great except I don't want tons of them. I very rarely change my tones so I'd really prefer to just buy a few and be done with it. Plus, if I sign up it's VERY likely that I'll forget to cancel and get charged for a few months (that I won't use) before realizing it. So, where do you get your ring tones?

If someones got one i like i get them to bluetooth it to me, or i usually ask Gils son Jamie to download it from the computer for me because their free

Or a great free site is phonezoo. its really easy to use and you just get charged with your phone company for the downloading and the text or wap messages

Is there no free ringtone sites in the USA at all?.
Nowadays you can also set your favourite song as your ringtone, most cellphones now come with a USB cable to put stuff from pc onto phone and vice versa.
I'd never pay for a ringtone personally.

Whatever you get with your cell phone are the only free ring tones. Otherwise if you do find a free one, you're subjected to text message spams and other phooey like that.

Twstychik, have you tried downloading a ring tone converter? I haven't tried one yet, but want to. I know a lot of phone today do play mp3s rather than custom ring tones, but if yours cannot there is software out there that can convert your mp3 to a ringtone for your phone. I think you can customize it too, so if there is only a portion of the song you like, then you can make it your ring tone.

I do hate how much they charge you though. Two years ago $0.99 wasn't bad. Now the carrier I'm on charges $2.49 a song. HOLY SHNICKEES!

That's the way we do it over here as well.

What kind of cell phone did you end up getting? Some of them have a program like Real Tone Jukebox installed- my RAZR does- & you can download them right from your phone. They cost money of course, but most of the time they give you a free one at first.

I did try e-mailing a song to my phone but that didn't work and I don't have a usb available at work. I'll have to try the tomorrow though.

The price is insane! That's why I never have a lot of them. Mine actually works as an MP3 player as well.

I got the RAZR V3 (love it btw! operates just like my old Motorola) but I didn't see the program you mentioned. I'll have to look into it. Thanks!

All ringtones are irritating and should be banned.

Well, that was helpful! How would you know if someone was calling? What about a plain old ring? Should that be banned too? What about land phones then... heck, lets ban ALL noise!

You have an interesting sense of humor, Karl.

If you have web capabilities on your cell, you could try www.3gforfree.com on your cell's browser. They have free ringtones galore! I personally like their My Immortal one from Evanescence. It's pretty.

Don't you get annoyed when people set their ringtones to the sound of one of those 'ancient' dial phone rings? So annoying IMO!

Concur. What is even better is when your co-workers get cell phone calls all day long, allowing you to hear an electronic rendition of the first few bars of their favorite song over and over and over again until you are ready to rip the thing from their hands and fling it into the next zip code. Mmmm... that felt good.

Hmmm... I still don't see it. Oh well, I found a violin piece by Bach that I really like.

Ya, I'd rather fling my co-workers themselves and spare their cell phones!

If you have sprint, t-mobile, or cingular than you can go to 3gforfree.com. Ringtones use to be free but now they charge $7 a year for unlimited downloads... Im sad because it use to be free 100%, but $7 a year isnt bad at all.

Opps Ive been beat, but at least now you know that 3gforfree isnt completely free anymore~
post #23 of 29
I can download mine straight off my phone from my service provider.
i think cell phones are a rip off. they advertise how awesome they are but don't say anything about all the fees. the us is REALLY far behind most other countries that carry cell phones. i really want an iphone but am not switching carriers for it.

I have verizon and i got 2 for 5 dollars. Good enough for me. i have the sopranos and royksopp and that's all i'll download until i get a new phone.

oh and most phones over here unless you have a super duper one, do NOT come with a USB cable.

My boyfriend works for a cell phone company and he said that 3gforfree is free as long as you go on it from your cell phone. If you go on it on the computer it costs you.

I use it and I just click sprint even though I am Canadian and my phone is through Bell Mobility here. It works...just a hint for any Canadians if you have a bell phone. If I buy a ring tone through my cell phone company it costs $3.50 plus downloading fees (unless you have unlimited access).

I didn't know it cost anything. I can still get mine free from my phone and I have a Sprint Razor.

This is so werid... Last time I tried accessing 3gforfree.com on the internet and on my cell it told me there would be a fee (yearly $7)... So as an experiment I tried it again on my phone (its bookmarked ) just now and Im able to download for free again. That is bizarre, because a few months ago it wouldnt let me and now I can again... Good deal because my new phone has no ringtones other than the ones it came with... YAY!!!!

All I had to pay was a small upgrade fee for my phone and I don't experience any "hidden" charges. I'm fully aware of what I'll be charged for.

My hubby has an I-Phone... it's pretty cool but big and heavy. I don't personally care for it.

Super duper really? that makes a bit of sense I guess.
I love super duper mobiles, but I really love the super, super duper ones in Japan that you get for free.
