CatProof The Place

Okay, new frisky critter on the way. I have a section of the apartment that's LOADED with wires, chords, etc. -- cat danger -- big time. I must sector off that area of the apartment. right now it's isolated in the kitchen with a 2feetx10feet entry way. Any good (inexpensive, non-elaborate but effective) ideas on how to create some kind of barrier? Training the cat to not enter the room would be the best, but how do I get the cat to "fear" and not enter that wireroom?

Thanks

I think that would be impossible. Get some of those long cardboard tubes either from Christmas wrapping or the post office & put the wires inside. Bitter Apple sprayed on the wires. A water spray bottle may work but you have to be there & avoid the ears.

Cardboard tubes? My cat would love those tubes... might work with this particular cat but I know my cat would be very curious... would be scratching, eating, etc.

There are lots of products that can help to conceal your cords to keep your kitty safe.

This one is GREAT for condensing all of your cables behind the TV and Computer you can pull then all in and wrap them in... it works GREAT! We use this stuff, we actually bought it when we were baby proofing.

Thanks for the links and suggestions, some of those might work. However, I have such a sea of wires that the only way I see it working is completely blocking off the room with all the wires. That would isolate the problem and then I wouldn't have to constantly tend to the wires and double-check to maker sure Madamoiselle Chat doesn't chomp away at them.
