I noticed last night that my oldest one Aniston (15 months) was making weird noises through her nose. It was like she was trying to sneeze but couldn't. I thought it might have been dust because that makes her sneeze on occasion. I got home from work and her nose has crusties over it which I managed to get off after some fighting with her. She sneezed about 10 times in a row so I'm thinking she has an upper respiratory infection.

She hasn't lost her appetite but the sneezing and her sore nose is making me think I should get her into the vet in the morning. I have a little one at home now, Maggie, who's 3 1/2 months. She hasn't shown any symptoms but I know how contagious this is.

Just wondering if this sounds like the respiratory infection? I feel bad that poor Maggie might get it.

(They're both up to date on every vaccination too)

How is she acting otherwise? Is she playing normally, litterbox activity normal? What about her eyes? Do you see any drainage or can you see her 3rd eyelid? Has she sneezed anymore? Do you hear or see labored breathing?

I got her into the vet at the last minute today, thankfully they weren't all booked up. She's on anti-biotics. Her temp was 4 degrees above normal. Other than that and a bit of discharge on her nose and some sneezing she's ok. No other signs of anything worse.

The kitten of course is fine. She's like super-kitty.

Good! I have two cats who suffer from seasonal allergies which can flare up into a URI, so I'm always watching for the signs. Also, I give them L-Lysine daily to help with that. If I notice runny eyes or noses, they get a double dose. If your kitty seems susceptible to URI, you might try the Lysine.
