Hi everyone,
I have a cat that I found in a sewer about 2 years ago. She was a little kitten when I found her and she might have even been a runt that was left behind by her mother.
Anyway, I am the one that feeds her and loves her and takes care of all of her needs. Whenever my fiance and I go away for a few days, she is so mean to me when I return. She hisses at me but not at my fiance or our dog. She also hisses at me when things aren't the norm. I had my friend over with his yorkie terrier and I went in the bedroom to check on my cat and she hissed at me. She has never swatted at me but she hisses and growls. She growls a lot.
Can someone tell me what is going on with her? I have always had cats but never one that acted like this!

She is hissing at the different smells that you are bringing back with you. She is hissing at the Yorkie smell on you. I am guessing when you go away, you are picking up scents that she recognizes are different.

If you want her to not hiss after you go away, you should save a change of clothes in a plastic bag and put them on for your return- don't let another animal get near them or any other strong scent

She hisses at whatever you resemble of whatever created trauma for her. Cats get abandoned (like in sewers) because they, typically, pose problems with owners. There exists a high likelihood that the kitten was tormented by previous owner(s). Something about you (the way you smell, your colors, hair color, whatever) reminds the cat of the tormentor.
