I just found THE wedding dress, but...

The site says that its only being sold in one shop in MA. While I would *almost* consider flying there, I only know that the dress is between $601-1500 according to web site I was looking at

However their official web site says different. I may have to make an appointment and take a peek and see if they carry that specific dress

My guess is that its closer the $1500 than $601. That will make the dress WAY out of budget for me.
PS, this is the dress: http://www.moncheribridals.com/Allie...ollection.aspx

It's gorgeous! I would check at local boutiques to see if they have it. I bought a Mon Cheri for my wedding and it was a last year's dress so it wasn't even on the site listings or catalog.
I personally love Mon Cheri's styles.
P.S. - Plus, it's cheaper sometimes at boutiques. At least mine was.

Mine was like this one, but it had a sheath layer on top with more detail on the edging. It also split the sheath later in the back with the edging going up together to one in the back.

*drools*

You really should try to find it!

Can you take that pic to a local dressmaker and see if they could do something similar?

My step-mom did that. One of her best friends is a seamstress and she liked the style of one dress but she wanted more lace on it and in an ivory color. Heh, she was the same seamstress that fixed my dress too!

That's what I kind also did. I loved the style of one dress, but the colour of another, so I got someone to make the style I wanted in the colour I wanted and I love it, it was perfect!!!!!

Thats a very nice dress!!

It's very pretty, but surely there are bridal shops where you live (Detroit) where you can find one?
Jenney, who on TCS is from MA??? Maybe enlist one of the crew to head over there and find out how much it is!! It's very beautiful though! I hope it's more the price range you want and that you are able to get it!

You may want to check out last year's line also. A lot of time, when something is a big seller, but they have to put something new out, they just make a few small changes to call it a "new style". It if is this year's line...you are looking at a good $1000-$1500. Check in any of the stores around you that sell that manufacturer and see if they have any older styles for discounted prices. You would be surprised at what you can find.

The dress I fell in love with from a catalogue was $2500+. Well...that was out. But, the dress I found I loved even more, and it was sample they got from a shop and was on sale for $400 (original price $850) and it was even more perfect that what I saw to begin with.

You will know the "perfect" dress when you actually try it on! It will speak to your soul (sounds stupid...but really, did does!)

Beautiful dress! I'm not much for "fancy" wedding dresses (I plan on very simple, not-expensive dress for my wedding in 5 months), but that dress is absolutely gorgeous! I hope it is closer to your budget/price range!

Very beautiful!! Vibes for it being in your budget.

Wow, that dress is exquisite!

That dress is so pretty. There has got to be a way for you to get it, or one similar...I am sending many good luck <vibes> to you.

Hmm...I think I'm going to start hunting for it (or one that I love) at the end of this month. I just got a call from one my friends reminding me that I need to get started on the most important thing of all: THE DRESS

Good point about last year's line. I'll have to find that one out.

OK so this is weird. The Knot tells me that its "only" sold in MA, Brides.com says its "only" sold in Missouri. Methinks that there is some vendor advertising being played here.

I'm defintely going to write down the salons/boutiques that the designer has listed on their web site. I'll post once I know more.

Very lovely dress Stacy!!! I'll have to keep that one in mind

When I was planning my wedding 2 years ago, I found that Knots and Bride sites were very biased towards manufacturers. And, very judgemental if going to their forums/bulletin boards, especially if you planned on doing anything "different".

I used UltimateWedding.com. I've been trying to pull up their forums but I don't think it is working right now. The site still has great resouces and good articles to read.

Ohhh...let me help you plan your wedding...please!!

The exact same thing happened when I tried on my dress for the first time! It was a tad bit big, but I knew it was the one.

Lol, same here! Hey, you can have a second marriage, right? I've heard of couples doing that to renew their vows.

Ooo...definitely. If B and I can't agree on something, my friends and TCS will have the ultimate ruling

Here's a 'dress' for you! It's actually a design from the British actress, Elizabeth Hurley's, wedding dress. Well for the most part, hers was waaay too complicated for me to draw! I can pm you the link to the pic of the actual dress if you're curious.
Lunasmom, that is one of the most beautiful wedding gowns I have ever seen.
That is a gorgeous dress. I would imagine that it'd be pricey though. I forget who said it, but taking a pic of it to a local designer and having them make a copy of it would probably be alot cheaper.

My guess is that you'll be able to find it more locally than you think! Also, keep an open mind. I thought I had found "the dress" from a photo in a magazine, but when I actually got to try it on I quickly realized that while it was beautiful, it wasn't the right one for me. As soon as you put the right dress on, you'll know.

that's exactly what I was going to say. The same thing happened to me.

When I was picking out my wedding dress, I found "the one" and luckily it wasn't more than $400. It was a halter-style, with beautiful beading throughout, almost like snowflakes (which I love!). If I had to do it all over again (and hopefully never will) I would've picked something different.

For one, I absolutely ROASTED in my dress. It was such a thick and heavy dress, and even on a September day I was just drenched from wearing that 40 lb. dress!! Ok, I'm exaggerating, but it surely felt like it that day.

Secondly, the beading was beautiful but they were catching on EVERYTHING. Luckily I didn't lose any but I was still paranoid all evening when I should've been just having the time of my life.

And finally, it got really dirty on the bottom because it was dragging on the floor.

If I knew then what I know now, I would've picked a much lighter, less intricate dress.

Just remember, no matter WHAT dress you pick, even if it's a bargain dress on eBay, no one will know what you paid and the best part of all.... YOU'LL LOOK BEAUTIFUL IN ABSOLUTELY ANY DRESS.

Nothing better than a wedding dress to make a woman the most beautiful she's ever been.

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!

Ugh! Thanks for the tips.

My plan is to go to one of the shops they listed on their site and try it on. If I still like it, then I'm going to find some seamstresses and see how much they'll charge or check out eBay.

The weird thing about around here though is that half the time anyone that knows how to sew will charge more than what you can pay in retail. Why? I don't know eBay may be better
