Recently there was a thread addressing this issue, but I can't find it. Can someone help point me to it, or offer suggestions on how I can keep him cool in 95 degree heat with no air conditioned car? I couldn't get a morning appointment when it's cooler because they do surgery in the morning. Thanks for your help.

we had the same problem with our kitten. We have no air in our car and we took him to the shelter. We just basically had to deal with it. We bought one of those hand held fan/mister things and used that on him if he started panting but he didn't really like it.

How far is your vet?

You can freeze a bottle of water and put it in the carrier. You can wrap it in a cloth if you wish.

Thanks for the idea. I don't have any bottles of water around, though (except the gallon size), so I'm trying to think what I can use to freeze some water in.

You could either put a damp cool towel in the carrier for the cat to lay on or put in an ice pack (well covered) under the towel.

Secure the carrier on the floor and open all the windows for cross air flow. How long of a drive from house to vet?

If you don't have a bottle you can use a heavy sealed freezer bag and fill 1/2 with water (or ice cubes) and freeze it.
