A while as in...
about two days.

I'm really quite worried.
Took him to the vet this morning
The vet said
If he's not eating by tomorrow to bring him in

that's easy for the vet to say
as he isn't in the prescence of a languishing cat

i'm going to heat up some ocean fish flavored wet food now

The vet says he has improved substantially.
He definetly looks very much better...

Last night we bought a tube of Nutrigel*
Fed him 5ml through a slip-tip syringe.
Repeated the dose before bedtime and again this morning.
And will continue to do so until he is fully recovered.
And possibly after that as he is very thin.

I doubt he would be in such good form this morning without the gel.
I was contemplating force feeding him yesterday.
In fact we tried but it was almost impossible,
And far too stressful on everyone involved.
Another good point about this gel is that,
it's incerdibly easy to administer once they have a taste for it.

I have also been giving him reiki.

*Nutrigel- It's a high-energy vitamin concentrate providing metabolizable energy (1500kj/100gm). It contains Vitamin A, D, E, B1, B2, B6, B12, Nicotinamide, Calcium Pantothenate, Folic Acid, Iron, Manganese, Magnesium & Iodine, Fat, Protein, & Carbohydrates. This particular brand is australian manufactured by Troy Laboratories, but there are other brands that manufacture it.

It is really hard to force feed a sick kitty, and you can do more damage then good sometimes. Have your vet show you the right way to do it next time you are in there, so you know. I hope your cat continues to improve, don't push a lot of food on him right away, feed him small amounts about 6 times a day if you can, versus big meals.
