Sick Cat Can't Groom Himself.

How can I groom my sick cat?
He has the flu.
His fur is in a lousy state.
It's greasy and clumpy.
He's asleep most of the time
and
doesn't seem to groom at all anymore.

Is there a method by which I can groom him as he would groom himself?
I'm sure it will make him feel a lot better.

you can use cornstarch, just sprinkle it on his fur and comb him out gently. If he appears to be annoyed, then just leave him be.

The best thing you can do is nurse him back to health. It's a fact that cat's health is displayed in the coat condition. When something is wrong with them, they arent getting the proper nutrition, and they aren't grooming themselves. Once he is feeling better, you will see the coat improve.

I've started brushing him with a soft toothbrush
while trying to mimic the cats natural grooming style...
It seems to be working
As it is spreading the oil evenly
Thus making him look a little less crumpled.

I do believe it it actually having a positive effect on him
And i am sure he can feel that his coat is in a better state.

I am doing it fairly often,
Once every hour or so
Smoothing out the ruffled bits
So that his coat is flat against his body
And keeping him better insulated against the cold.
