My cat has been poo'ing blood for the past few months.

It has been on and off and its recently come back again.

I took her to the vet and they didn't really help much except take $200 for consultation.

Changed her diet a few times... Now all I feed her is just normal cat food "Whiskers" top brand cat food in Australia.

And I sometimes cook chicken with no oil or anything else just plain chicken which I mix into her food.

Recently when she's goes to the toilet her feces has blood and usually right at the end its just blood not a lot but enough to be abnormal.

Does anyone know what it is?

Is it the food, not enough water?

I'm a little lost.

Please help....

What is her poo like otherwise? Is it firm or soft?

Bright red blood in the stool indicates bowel irratation. If it isn't alot and there are no other symptoms, it may not be anything serious. My vet told me that fur in the stool can be enough to cause irratation and a bit of blood.

One of our kitties has colonitis which caused him to have fresh blood in his stool. We put him on a sensitive stomach food by Royal Canin, and that stopped the problem.

It could be something like this, in which case you should try to find a higher quality food with less additives. Or it could be allergies, in which case you may have to work to figure out which ingredient is causing the problem.

If you can find a sensitive stomach formula, that's the best place to start. If that doesn't help, I'd search this forum for links and recipes, though this really should be done with the supervision of a vet. Sounds to me like you may need to visit a few more vets before you find someone caring and willing to work with you. A good vet won't just charge you and send you on your way, they'll work with you to solve the problem. Unfortunately, it can cost some money to get to that vet. You may want to ask around among friends, family and co-workers.

I total agree one of my babies was having a stomach problem and the vet told us to use food for sensitive stomaches and it has worked I know with the prices of food today it can be hard for people but I strongly recommend a good cat food try this if you look on line say for Iams write or email company requesting a free sample they will probably send it to you also request coupon from companies it does work with the way things are today every little bit helps .

I hope it isn't anything serious and a diet change will help .

Sending a
to watch over your baby

thank you so much for your replies.

I think I'll try a blood test and food for sensitive stomach!

Hope it does the trick..
