I gotta tell you, at first I was thinking that at least they have a realistic view of it now. They aren't just saying to pull everyone out now and give a time table.
But their plans of taking it down to a small force just makes those that are still there in greater danger. I have friends who are going back who are some of the ones doing the dirty work. I mean the ones going door to door who are not allowed to go in and take out the bad guys, but have to "detain" them only for the bad guys to be repeatedly released, plan more attacks, and then be re-detained. (Shades of Viet Nam, anyone? It's the
politicians who are giving the orders, making sure it's a PC "war". Let the military do their jobs - don't tie their hands and then wonder why they can't fight.) So, yes, I'm very concerned with the idea of taking it down to a skeleton force to deal with the terrorists. They are constrained already with their orders, giving them less men to do the dirty work isn't going to make it any easier.
