before 1 year i rescued little cat who i found paind on the street. i brought her home and healed her. i don't know how old is she but she looks me really young. before maybe 1,5 month she was pregnant and she birthed. few her kittens died and one of them she ate!
i wasn't home when that happen' but my sister told me that that was terrible. i'm very afraid now. Lucky is good, but what will be happen' if she again be pregnant?

the most imortant question from all of this is: why did she eat her kitten???

Cats will sometimes eat their kitten if their instincts tell them the kitten won't survive. I think of it as a survival mechanism left over from days in the wild - if a kitten is going to die anyways, then its less risky for the rest of its littermates if that kitten is gone as soon as possible.

Especially at the kitty's age when she had those kittens, she was probably too young and the kittens not healthy to begin with, which would explain why they died or were eaten by mom.

I realize that you're not in America and so I don't know the situation with vet care in you area, but the best thing you can do for you cat now is get her spayed if possible. Then she won't go into heat anymore, so she can't get pregnant. Its also healthier for her because intact cats can get very bad sicknesses.

thanx. i'm calmer now. i can't get her to vet because they in my town are hirrible. when i get my dog for an normal lookup they didn't want do that because they were afraid of my dog who is not dangerous at all. i saw him in his eyes that he is afraid...i don't think that they will do anything for my cat. my 1 cat and 2 dogs died after i get them to the vet. they didn't help to any of my ill pets.

It's pragmatism. A mom cat puts a lot of energy into growing a kitten; and when one is born dead, she may eat it to conserve that energy, especially if she is malnourished or too young to have kittens or both. (You said she was a stray, and that she was very small--so it could be both, in her case.)

Young, inexperienced momcats will sometimes eat the afterbirth and chew off the umbilical cord as they ought to, but not stop chewing--usually, the kitten's wiggling will stop the momcat at the proper place; but if the kitten is dead, then it won't wiggle.

Your cat isn't a monster or a true cannibal--she's just young, inexperienced, weak, and confused.

This is just one more of the tragedies you see with cats who get abandoned, then get pregnant too young... Hopefully she is spayed now; having had one bad pregnancy, she is more likely than most to have another. My condolences on the loss of the kittens.

She could think that; but it could be that she's being an 'aunt' to them. Female friends who give birth close together often raise their kittens together, too.
