How old is he? How old when neutered? How long has he been doing this? It could be several reasons:

1. He has an UTI - please have him checked by the vet first before you figure anything else out. A male that sprays or wets outside the litter box may be in trouble if he gets blocked.

2. Another male cat is spraying outside the house and triggering your cat inside to do the same.

Is he an only cat? Have you brought in a new cat, dog, or even baby? If medcially he's ok, then confine him to a room that can be easily cleaned and keep him in there till he uses the litter pan all the time.

Have you changed litter pans (size) or type of litter?

Hes about 3 1/2 years old. I think I got him neutered at about 4-5 months. We built a indoor avery for our 6 cats so every chance he comes into the house, he usually sprays. The litter/litter tray hasn't changed to my knowledge. My cat has been doing this since he was little and we've tried just about everything to make him quit this nasty habit. I'm going to have a vet check out this problem though. Let me know if you have anymore advice-thanks!

At the time of neutering, was there ANY mention about a non descended testicle? If he's been doing this since he's been neutered, it sounds like they did not completely neuter him or he's got another one up higher inside him which means a 2nd surgery.

Male cats spray if they still are producing hormones - this sounds like a very real possibility.
