Sorry about me asking so many questions!
I've got one more for you:
Did the vet prescribe any medication?

No he suggested I change food first, in his experience in a cat this young it is most likely food, he said If I didn't want science diet there were others that were good, like nutrium (sp) I should keep a close eye on her, and bring her back for testing If this continues

Allow me to throw out some info. I do not mean to talk to you like you know nothing....but I honestly worry about what your vet did.

A UTI is an actual infection of the bladder. Now, if Lucky has an actual UTI(which I cannot guarantee) then it will remain painful to urinate. A UTI cannot be treated simply by food(from my knowledge), but you need to treat with anti-biotics.

Which is where my concern comes from. The longer a UTI goes untreated, the more the behavior becomes "accepted" from the cat's point of view.

I guess my point would be, if Lucky continues to pee in funny places over the next week, get a urine sample checked for a UTI.

Oh I absolutley will, I take her health very seriously, which is why I want to feed her the best food I can. the vet didn't think it was an actually infection, more a reaction from the food I was giving her

Since there was blood, I wouldn't really feel comfortable waiting myself.
Don't be afraid to get pushy with the vet to do something other than just suggest food. You're paying this person to care for your animal.

In the meantime, is she still eating wet food? Maybe more wet food would help a little instead of focusing on just dry foods.

I would honestly switch vets., and buy a GOOD quality food/ Like Orijen or Innova EVO.

I hate to brake it to you but its probably $ related, why he pushes science diet and all. Vets are paid big $$ to promise to sell crappy foods, the food people say, we'll give you $$ if you sell our stuff under your name or by you.

In alot of reg cat foods ( most of these types are in run of the mill places like wal-mart/human grocery stores) are things like 4d animals ( dead, dying diseased disabled) leather meal, often in meat by product meal, PTS shelter animals
and grains which are totaly indegestable to carnivores. They can and do use hair, feathers and hooves in cat food and dog food too

Actually I think the vet was right, not to say I'm going to stick with science diet, but Lucky's UTI symtoms are gone, there is no blood, she is peeing normally, no more crying or straining, her bed was dry, she is back to eating twice a day. I would like to find a good quality food that I can keep her on, that she can grow up on,

Everyone you ask will have different suggestions on what to feed. My suggestion is to PM sharky for advice.
She's great. Really really gret!

Could you provide a link to that article please?
